The Bolhão Nobre apartments occupy a prime location at the heart of the "Ancient, Very Noble, Always Loyal and Undefeated City of Oporto". As their name indicates, they are situated directly in front of the emblematic and renowned Bolhão Market, on the Rua Sá da Bandeira.
They are located on the third and top floor of an historic, 19th century building with a decorative, Romantically-influenced Art Nouveau façade.
The building, owned by the same family for decades, has been fully restored while maintaining the original architectural layout. As a result, the apartments are accessed exclusively by the magnificent central staircase, carved in wood and illuminated by a skylight in typical 1800s Oporto style.
Upon entering the apartments, you will experience a smooth transition into a contemporary and glamorous environment, where all of the decorative components are made in Portugal, from the furniture to the top-quality sheets and towels. Benefiting from both our fully-equipped kitchens and the superior comfort of our rooms, you will be able to experience what it truly means to "live" in this city, feeling at home like a true portuense.
Thanks to their lofty positions, our two apartments, "Fado" (a traditional Portuguese music style) and "Descobrimentos" ("Discoveries"), are filled with natural light. Although located in a well-trafficked area of the city, they are quiet, allowing you to rest fully and completely.
Excellently located for accessing local transportation, the Bolhão metro station is only one block away, as are various bus stops. From the Trindade station, which connects all metro lines, you are within 5 minutes of walking distance to the apartments. To reach the São Bento train station, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site (as is the whole old city itself), where you can connect to all of Portugal's railways, including the one that winds through the Douro River Valley, you can simply walk down the Rua Sá da Bandeira for 6 minutes.
In fact, the whole ancient city centre is within walking distance. Nearly just outside the front door, you will find Oporto's most typical shops and the Rua de Santa Catarina (the city's commercial core – two blocks away), where you can see, among other sights, the famous and nearly-centenarian Café Majestic and the Capela das Almas (“Chapel of the Souls”), with its beautiful tile work. The main theatres, bars, restaurants and discotheques of the revived movida, or down town "scene", near the famous Lello Bookstore and the most emblematic monument of the city, the Clérigos Tower, are all between 5 to 10 minutes away on foot.
It is our hope that you will fall in love with Oporto as much as you will our accommodations.
We look forward to your visit!
